General dentistry involves diagnosis and treatment of general conditions affecting the teeth, gums, and jaw. General dentists care for the overall health of patients of all ages, and our doctors are highly educated and trained to provide a variety of dental services. From preventive dentistry to restorative dental implants, and orthodontic services to full smile makeovers, Dr. Clark, Dr. Romano, and Dr. Grossman routinely provide the full spectrum of current dental treatments and procedures.
Prevention is of the utmost importance. At Summit Dental, our steadfast goal is to identify and treat problems before they grow to be serious, expensive, and often painful. Regular checkups - every six months - combined with proper home care result in better oral health. A healthy body needs a healthy mouth!
Many everyday activities - including eating, talking, smiling, and laughing - can be challenging for people who are missing teeth. These activities that were once embarrassing can become more pleasant again with restorative dentistry. The same good news applies to patients who have not been to see a dentist in a long time and feel like their teeth are beyond repair. We desire not only to restore your smile to its former health, but also to make it look and feel better than ever!
To make teeth look natural and whole, Dr. Clark, Dr. Romano, and Dr. Grossman use tooth-colored dental fillings and crowns to restore teeth. A treatment plan of dental implants combined with new dentures can work well to replace missing teeth with a beautiful, restored smile and a well-functioning mouth. Summit Dental Group offers a wide range of restorative treatments for patients whose smiles need a second chance.
“I love my new smile! Nothing feels better than being able to smile with confidence. Thank you so much!”- Karen Fratianni, patient of Summit Dental Group
A healthy, beautiful smile can make life more enjoyable. It can raise self-esteem, help make a good first impression, and improve your personal and professional life. When you look in the mirror, we want you to love the smile you see! And when you meet people for the first time, we want you to feel confident enough in your smile to show it off! Our dentists can create your best smile by perfecting the alignment, shape, and whiteness of your teeth.
There are a number of subtle yet noticeable ways we can enhance your smile, as well as more dramatic cosmetic dental treatments, often called “smile makeovers,” that can make the smile of your dreams become a reality. Ask us at your next visit about the possibilities for your smile.
Did you know that many orthodontic conditions are best treated at an early age, even before all the baby teeth have been lost? Through interceptive orthodontic treatment--taking advantage of a child’s growing years--complicated orthodontic conditions can be treated with fewer compromises and long-lasting results.
Many of our adult orthodontic patients are taking advantage of the latest technologies that orthodontics has to offer to achieve that beautiful smile they previously thought was impossible. While their practice is not limited solely to orthodontics, Dr. Clark, Dr. Romano, and Dr. Grossman have obtained additional training in the field of orthodontics to be able to include orthodontic treatment as part of their comprehensive care for their family of patients.
According to The American Academy of Periodontology, about 80 percent of adults in the United States have some form of gum disease, ranging from gingivitis to the various forms and stages of periodontitis. The prevalence of gum disease increases with age: teeth wear down and become more sensitive as time passes, gums naturally recede, and medications can affect oral health.
If your gums feel tender or sore, or if they look red and swollen, you might have the beginnings of gum disease. Other warning signs include bleeding and/or receding gums, pain or sensitivity in your teeth, loose teeth caused by bone loss, and persistent bad breath. If left untreated, gum disease can lead to tooth loss as well as serious health problems.
If you have any degree of gum disease, we can help you. In past years, gum disease required surgery more often than not. While surgery is still an option--and sometimes needed--many cases are now treated with less invasive techniques first, such as deep dental cleanings, local antibiotics, and special mouth rinses. Do not delay seeing your dentist if you think you might have gum disease.
If the thought of any of the dental treatments described above makes you anxious or even fearful, we offer nitrous oxide to help you relax. We want you to receive the dental treatment you need, and feel at ease during the process! Nitrous oxide is a colorless blend of gasses that can create feelings of well-being and tranquility when inhaled. Some patients even describe a sense of floating or giddiness, which is why it is called “laughing gas.” This safe and easy dental sedation option helps many people feel comfortable during dental treatment, especially children and patients with mental or physical impairments.
“A lifetime of dental phobia was dispelled upon my first procedure (an emergency, of course) with Dr. Michael Romano. Trust and confidence replaced the fear and stress I had previously associated with dental work. Comfortable, respectful, pain-free procedures replaced the painful ones I had experienced in other practices. I have always been treated promptly, respectfully and with genuine care by Dr. Romano and his professional and friendly staff. Now I actually look forward to a dental appointment, and that is the truth!”- Charlene Connolly, Liverpool, NY
